A Belated St. Patrick’s Day Luncheon

A Belated St. Patrick’s Day Luncheon

In the heart of Norwalk, CT, amidst the bustling streets and cozy neighborhoods, lies a hidden gem that beckons both locals and travelers alike — O'Neill's Irish Pub. With its warm atmosphere, rich history, and tantalizing menu, it's a haven for those seeking authentic Irish hospitality and cuisine. On Saturday. March 23, 13 intrepid foodies came from near and far to celebrate a belated St. Patrick’s Day at O’Neill’s in the pouring rain.

We start with a classic favorite — Irish Potato Skins, loaded with melted cheese, crispy bacon, and a dollop of sour cream. The combination of flavors is sublime, and it sets the tone for what promises to be a memorable meal. Next up, we sample the Boxty Quesadillas, a fusion of Irish and Mexican cuisines that surprises and delights with every bite. The tender corned beef, melted cheese, and tangy salsa nestled between crispy boxty pancakes are a revelation.

As we savor each dish, our conversation flows effortlessly, punctuated by laughter and exclamations of delight. It's evident that O'Neill's has succeeded in not only capturing the essence of Irish cuisine but also creating an atmosphere where strangers can quickly become friends over a shared love of good food.

For the main course, we opt for an array of classic Irish dishes, from the hearty Guinness Beef Stew to the tender Shepherd's Pie, each dish bursting with robust flavors and comforting warmth. The Bangers and Mash, featuring plump sausages atop a mound of creamy mashed potatoes, elicits nods of approval from around the table, while the Corned Beef and Cabbage transports us to the rolling green hills of Ireland with its timeless simplicity.

No Irish meal would be complete without a perfectly poured pint of Guinness, and O'Neill's delivers in spades. The velvety smoothness of the stout complements our meal beautifully, elevating the dining experience to new heights.

As we bid farewell to O'Neill's, we do so with grateful hearts and satisfied appetites. The food was excellent, company was fun and we stayed quite a long time devouring their yummy spoon rolls long after the meal was finished.

The next foodie event will be May 4th for a 'Quatro de Mayo' at Casa Oaxaca in Bethel (well, it's Cinco de Mayo somewhere in the world!)...hope we have as much fun and much better weather!
