Our 18th Annual Darwin Day Dinner!

HFFC organized and hosted the 18th Annual Darwin Day Dinner on February 7th, 2026, and more than 130 people attended this "celebration of curiosity, science and scientists." The event, held in Darien, CT, this year included a secular invocation; the CT governor's Proclamation of Darwin Day; remarks by Senator Richard Blumenthal; our featured speaker (Dr. J. Peter Gogarten of UCONN) in a presentation and fireside chat with Kira Dineen of Gene Pool Media; and the ever-popular science quiz.

Thanks to donations from many of our attendees, HFFC was able to pass $500.00 on to the National Center for Science Education. NCSE does much good work advocating for quality science education throughout the US. Below is the acknowledgement we got from NCSE in response to our donation:

Many thanks indeed for the donation from Humanists and Freethinkers of Fairfield's Darwin Day event, which arrived at the NCSE office today. As always, we are grateful both for your holding the event and for the generous contribution to support NCSE's work.
